Thanksgiving

Posted in Our Family | 3 Comments »

We’re doing Thanksgiving a little different this year…well, I’m not sure we’ve ever done it “the same”.

Tomorrow we’re headed on a family adventure since our big Thanksgiving feast will be on Saturday. On Friday we’ll help my parents with a project and then come home to cook up our portion of the feast. This year I’m fixing gluten-free stuffing (it was sooooo yummy last year!), chocolate pumpkin bread, and 100-calorie pumpkin tarts.

I always love Thanksgiving. Perhaps it is my favorite holiday…I can never decide. I do like the time to reflect on the year and on the things we are grateful for. I have too many to name. One of them being that many of you check our blog even though I am horrible at posting :)

Tonight as I tucked the boys into bed I reminded them of why we celebrate Thanksgiving. And then I asked them what they are thankful for:

Will: “I’m thankful for burrito quesadillas. And tacos. And green beans.”

Walker: “Legos, I’m only grateful for Legos. Becaaaause youuu won’t let meeeee have anything elseeeee*”.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I love what each of you bring into our life, near and far.

*yes, those are sobs.

A Cheater’s Post

Ok, I’m really cheating with this one. I have so much news to tell you about – our Halloween, Eric’s birthday, and more…but I haven’t had the time. I am hoping that this week, and for the two after that, I’ll have some downtime since Will is out of school.

In the meantime you’ll have to forgive me for stealing a post from someone else…don’t worry I give them full credit.

One of our (and by our I mean Eric and I) favorite blogs is Zen Family Habits. They tend to provide, or remind, parents with practical and simple parenting techniques and advice.

This week their article on How To Deal with Tantrums is fantastic! Why? Mostly because they asked five different parents to share their thoughts and tips…and I ind that real down-home, tried and true parenting tips are so applicable in my life.

If you need some help preventing and handling tantrums…you must check it out!

Will has been published for the first time! I sent in one of his many quotes of late to our local parenting magazine, Inland Empire Family. While we didn’t win the prize – it is sure fun to see his quote in print!
