Hot Days & Cool Fun!

Posts all over the blog-o-sphere are lighting up with the excitement of summer! Never one to miss out on a party – can I just say – I AM SO EXCITED FOR SUMMER!

This summer my friends, is going to be one beyond compare. Why? Let me give you two very good reasons:

Will and Walker

Now you might be wondering: “Shell, how that is any different that than the last four years?”

Well, I’m so glad you asked! Let me tell you:

Will is into bugs. Walker wants to go fishing. Both boys are down right thrilled to get dirty. Bottom line: my kids are turning into full-fledged little boys! Full of wonder, exploration, and desire for adventure! Yeah!

So what are we doing this summer? We kicked it off on Sunday with our very first backyard BBQ. Papa, KK, and Goosey came out to ring in the summer with good food and our new summer dining ware! From here it’s only going to get busier better!

* This weekend we are going camping with Lyndsy and Jon. I cannot wait.
* In ten days Grandma Steph, Ali and Victoria visit for a whirlwind three days of unbelievable fun (including the trip to Santa Barbara for our annual Solstice Day parade).
* Hiking, biking, and triathloning. (You have to say it for effect.)
* National Backyard Campout Weekend
* Summer Reading Clubs and REI Hiking Club
* A new playgroup circle with new friends to meet.
* An August visit from the BFF and her kiddos.

And mostly just having two boys who jump in full force to explore the summer. I took some time to make an advent”ure” calendar for us based off an idea I got from Cocoa HERE.

Eric and I are going to take some time filling it up with small adventures that can be done on days when we are bored. Things like: building an indoor fort, making juice smoothies, running through sprinklers. Simple things that they can select and that I can follow through on!

So what are your plans for the summertime? What’s getting you excited for the next few months?

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.

What a fun idea! I love summer fun, too. Hey – are you guys going to come up this summer?

Wow, what a great idea! I will have to remember your tags and come back to look at all these when Addie is a bit older.

We are looking forward to trips to the Zoo, Aquarium, and Aviary. As well as fishing and exploring the foothills.

I am really looking forward to walking Addie down the street to visit the goats and horses instead of taking her in the stroller. ALMOST there! That kid will be walking in no time.

Keep us posted on all the fun things you do! Addie will be riding a train in 2 weeks, I will be sure to take some pictures for you, Walker. And, Will, Addie is just in love with Fans and Airplanes!! I can’t wait for you to tell her all about them!

I can’t wait to drink up three days with four luscious people!!! When I get back home, I am looking forward to July 14 — Shell’s B-day and Bastille Day when the back yard will be FINISHED and I can sit on the deck, drinking a Pepsi and look at the results of a lot of time, sweat and muscle!

You are so awesome, I was just going to make a list of ideas and stick it on the fridge, not quite as creative. Hope you are all having fun!

Fun, fun, fun!! Isn’t summer wonderful? I love the calendar -and I checked out Cocoa’s website, it’s awesome. Thanks for sharing. We’re looking forward to some camping, some company, and our very own Colorado “staycation” where most of our trips include finding new and fun things to do in our very own state (SOO much to do!).

I love it! It is just fabulous how you are so excited about summer. I, too, am excited about summer, but not about the heat (pregnant women and heat) Thanks for sharing your ideas, I am always looking for ways to keep my munchkins busy and happy. I especially love the simply ways to keep them busy like building a fort or making smoothies. Wish we could see you this summer, the boys keep asking when are we going back to California. Miss ya!
