Cough, sneeze and repeat

Our life has been pretty – well snotty lately. In fact I am writing this while wearing a sweater that is visibly covered in snot trails. Kind of like those trails snails leave in the early morning dew. Yeah, it doesn’t matter how I write it. It’s gross.

Last week Walker wasn’t feeling so great. Rather he wasn’t acting so great. With a three-year-old it can be hard to tell whether it’s moodiness or something else. Four days, a 103 degree temperature and a trip to the Doctor later he’s got an ear infection, Will’s got a cold and I’m plain tuckered. Two days after that and they’re still sick, I’m tuckered and feverish, and E is doing his best to hold down the fort. Which brings us to today.

E dowsed me with medicine last night, locked our bedroom door (Walker still pounded on it at 2:00, 4:00 and 4:15am) and slept on the couch. I woke up to find him like this:

I finally dressed myself in non-snotty clothes (which are now, as described above, muculicious) and dragged the boys to the grocery store to stock our bare fridge. (note to self: How many times can I make the same lunch before it becomes unhealthy and possibly abusive?) E tried hard to make it through the day at work while slowly realizing that he too was being overpowered.

So now, he’s tucked into bed after downing some meds. I rubbed Vick’s VapoRub on him – you should have seen his face and heard his protests. But then I reminded him that I love the smell of Vick’s VapoRub almost as much good cologne and therefore might have to nuzzle up to him at night. Of course he’s too drugged to remember if I cuddled with him or not :)

The boys are battling their coughs in their rooms. From what it sounds like their sleep-deprived bodies are winning.

Meanwhile I’m out here – sorely in need of a bath – dying to down my own coma-inducing amount of medicine – and hoping and praying for at least one good night of sleep.

Please.
